Rhetorical Questions for Mary

Mary might have written something like this:

I buried the cat in October.

Outside the fence.

Next to the peach pits I had buried weeks earlier, beginning what I called a climate change  experiment; future orchard

And then we’d all find reasons to appreciate the supposed deeper meaning.

I don't like reading Mary Oliver. Why does everyone think I should like Mary Oliver?

The deeper meaning is this: The coral is dying. The snow is getting wetter but less. The rivers  are ending in seas of sand. And the seas are striving towards late Permian acidity.

The deeper meaning is this: The cranes are moving through the valley. Soon, it will be  oppressively green again. Nature is a circle.

Sweet girl

What a time to be alive in this experiment of our own making

Sweet girl

Today I rode alongside a large blue heron in the river bottom, both of us free

What do you dream of?

Is it too late to plant an orchard?

Is it too late for love?
